John Legend

Love in the Future

****

Simply legendary.

With Love in the Future John Legend effortlessly resurrects a dated R&B sound in a way most of his fans will enjoy.

Top of the list is the hit All Of Me which has many women declaring it their wedding song. Armed with a piano and his voice, Legend surfs over catchy and sometimes exaggerated lyrics of how much he loves his lady. It’s almost as extreme as Bruno Mars’ Grenade.

So Gone will take you to a familiar place where you have had enough of a relationship and decide to leave. It is a mellow song that would probably play when the lights come on in a club and they are about to close.

Look out for Caught Up, which has a slightly faster pulse than the rest. Here he is enticing his love interest into falling for him at all hours of the day.

While you may sulk because there is no Kanye or Rick Ross featured, you will be happy to know that Seal is. We Loved It is the best duet Legend has done with anyone. They have almost the same vocal registers yet you can tell them apart. A classic.

If you are into the noisier John Legend then this is not your album. This is one for the bedroom. – Munya Vomo
