GIG OF THE WEEK: Judith Sephuma – 10 Year Legacy Tour Launch

Theatre of Marcellus, Emperors Palace, Johannesburg

You cannot write the history of South African music and leave out the sensational and elegant Judith Sephuma.

While this is only her 10th year in the industry, Sephuma has made a lot of music and it feels like she has been around forever.

Celebrating her first decade of song, Sephuma invites you to the Theatre of Marcellus, Emperors Palace (64 Jones Road, Kempton Park) tonight where she will take you on a journey into how it all began.

Yes, like everyone else, she has had her fair share of trying times and that has affected her music at times. However, tonight is not about that, but instead about all the good music that made her known to us. To add to that, she will also be launching her new album, I Am Living Testimony, so you will be the first to hear it live and be able to get the CD before the likes of music stores like Look & Listen and Musica (or your street-side pirate dealer, if you are one of those).

The multiple Sama-winning musician also boasts a Kora award and a few Metro FM awards too.

I Am Living Testimony sounds like a gospel offering and consi-dering what the singer has been through recently that notion would be understandable.

Tickets prices begin at R150, but there is a special package available from R205, which includes a ticket and a signed copy of the CD, which will only be officially released to the public in September.

Tickets can be booked through the Emperors Palace box office at 011 928 1297/1490 or Computicket at www.computicket.com or 083 915 8000. – Munyaradzi Vomo
