Los Angeles - Heavy Metal band Motley Crue announced their retirement on Tuesday, but before hanging up their guitars for good they will embark on a 72-appearance farewell tour.
The band promised that unlike many of their rivals, the two year cycle would be their last, and even signed a “cessation of touring agreement” that supposedly prevents them from reuniting.
The tour, called appropriately The Final Tour, will start in Grand Rapids Michigan in July and will hit international markets in 2015.
Rock icon Alice Cooper will perform as the tour's opening act.
Motely Crue was formed in Los Angeles in 1981 by bassist Nikki Sixx and drummer Tommy Lee who were later joined by lead guitarist Mick Mars and lead singer Vince Neil.
The band have sold some 80 million albums worldwide and are known for their hedonistic lifestyles.
The tour's tag line reflects their bad-boy reputation: “All bad things must come to an end.” - Sapa-dpa
