Johannesburg - Shia LeBeouf wanted to wear a “penis camera”.
The 27-year-old actor, who stars in the Lars Von Trier film Nymphomaniac, allegedly asked the director if he could strap a camera to his penis during filming to give the audience a more intimate experience.
According to The New York Post, “Shia had wanted Von Trier to put a camera on his penis while filming, so that audiences could have the full experience”.
However, Von Trier, no stranger to controversy when it comes to his movies, decided the idea would be “too much” for the audience. Nymphomaniac stars Charlotte Gainsbourg, Uma Thurman, LeBeouf and Christian Slater. It details a woman’s erotic journey through life.
LeBeouf has previously said that the prospect of working with Von Trier scared him.
“He's the most dangerous dude that I've ever showed up for,” he said prior to filming.
“I'm terrified. I'm so terrified, which is why I have to go.
“[The movie] is what you think it is. It is Lars von Trier, making a movie about what he's making. For instance, there's a disclaimer at the top of the script that basically says we're doing it for real. Everything that is illegal, we'll shoot in blurred images. Other than that, everything is happening.”
LeBeouf has been making waves of his own lately while doing publicity for the film. At a press conference in Berlin, he answered just one question with an Eric Cantona quote, before walking out. He later attended the movie premiere wearing a brown paper bag on his heads with the inscription: ‘I’m Not Famous Anymore’.
Film insiders, however, claim that LeBeouf’s baffling behaviour is all an elaborate “performance art” hoax.
“Everyone who knows Shia is in on the joke. It's all part of an act,” said a source. - Tonight Reporter
