The search for the new face of MTV Base gets underway across South Africa this month as this year’s highly anticipated VJ auditions start. At the end a rising star will be revealed and one person’s life changed forever in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
The vivacious winner will receive a 12-month contract while he or she also stands a chance to host MTV Base shows as well as interviewing stars, MC-ing events, attending international awards shows, walking the red carpet, and travelling the continent – all while being an ambassador for MTV Base and showing the rest of SA how to ‘live life in colour’ - in true Breezerstyle. While Breezer inspires its fans to enjoy life and seek ‘fun’ experiences every day, it will also provide the winner with plenty of Breezer support throughout the year, helping add colour to their lives. Previous winners have become household names on the South African entertainment scene.
Auditions will be held at these dates and venues:
21 July: Olive Convention Centre, Durban
28 July: Castle of Good Hope, DCape Town
4 August: East London Golf Club, East London
18 August: Zone 6 Venue, Soweto, Johannesburg
Auditions get underway from 09:00 to 16:00 in each city. Hopefuls wishing to take the opportunity to be part of this exciting campaign need just arrive at the venue and bring their most colourful selves.
The next VJ is expected to have a passion for global and African youth culture and music, be authentic and live life in colour. Previous winners include Sizwe Dhlomo, Fikile Moeti, Nomuzi Mabena, Sandile Ntshingila and last year’s winner Tshego Mosupye.
