Someone Like You

M-net, 22:45

****

Ask any modern woman what she regards as the three certainties in life and it's likely you'll invariably receive the same response: top of the list would be death, taxes would take the second spot, and a heart-breaking encounter with an unfaithful partner would probably come in at a close third.

The latter is one lesson that sweet-natured Jane (Ashley Judd) has yet to learn, however. Having reached that stage where the supposed glitz and glamour of the desperate singles' scene has suddenly lost its allure, Jane is on the look out for true love. And when new kid on the office block, Ray (Greg Kinnear) steps into her path, she believes she's finally found it.

But, as luck would have it, Mr Right turns out to be oh so wrong, not to mention engaged - to someone else!

Thus, Jane channels her anguish into an obsessive project aimed at understanding why men are so easily inclined to stray, while her seemingly womanising work colleague (played by the hunky Hugh Jackman) helps her along the way.

You've heard of superheroes endowed with all manner of fantastical powers, but it's a concept confined to the pages of comic books and major blockbuster movies. Or is it?

Zhang Deke is among those "special folk" who insist such notions are very much true-to-life.

Where the rest of us have to rely on good ol' fashioned sleep to recharge our systems, Deke claims to do so using live electricity. And he's reportedly able to cook raw fish on his stomach to boot!

Discovery delves into the world of "electric humans".

They may have ultimately won their Monday-night match against the US, but that the Italian soccer team allowed their purportedly weaker opponents to score the first goal was simply shocking.

Even if it was purely on a penalty basis.

These gorgeous descendents of the Roman gods are, after all, currently ranked as the world champions.

Let this be a warning to another of the world's favoured teams, Brazil, not to underestimate the Americans, whom they will be taking on in this afternoon's game.

Jacob's Cross

That the title cross-bearing character in this series is portrayed by an actor who happens to be the son of a real-life pastor makes for a healthy helping of irony.

And had newly-formed political party, Cope been successful in its bid to overthrow the ANC, Hlomla Dandala would have found himself addressing his papa as Mr President.

Nevertheless, it's the small screen where Dandala is destined to remain for the moment and in tonight's episode, his alter ego faces a physical (and near-deadly) attack from Prospero.
