Whereas blondes have more fun, redheads just get pain and freckles.

From Facebook groups instigating National Kick a Ginger Day to South Park’s Cartman turning the town against ‘soulless daywalkers born with a disease', it’s not easy being ruddy, and gingerism is a very real problem.

Not so, thinks Jena Dover, who attributes all of her success to her ruby locks.

‘I’ve embraced it, and I wouldn’t have made a penny without the colour of my hair. Bruce Springsteen even wrote a song about us – one of the lines goes ‘you haven’t lived until you’ve had your tyres rotated by a red headed woman.’

Which is exactly how we felt - if by 'having your tyres rotated' you mean 'having a piece of your childhood taken out back and shot' - when we heard that April 2 would be the last KTV broadcast.

So we contacted Jena who confirmed the 'end of an era' and gave us her take on things.

So KTV Is gone. How are you feeling right now?

Its the end of an era. The days when kids were 'kids' are gone. I think we may be experiencing the death of the cartoon too. It's tragic don't you think?

Yes. How did you actually become a KTV presenter?

I was 'discovered' by a photographer in a mall at age 5, began working steadily on the child acting scene (if there was such a thing at the time) and KTV was just one of those opportunities. The auditions were manic though. Thousands of kids and their stage parents were gunning for a position. Those were the days when you had to succeed through six rounds of auditions and 4 further call backs. This at age 9.

What was it like at the clubhouse?

Hahaha, you remember the club house! The sets on KTV were tiny in real life. For kids at home it looked like we were presenting from an entirely different world, another dimension. But in reality we made magic from tiny sets that were really just walls with nooks and crannies and lots of sweets scattered around. - GQ
