The original housemates of MTV, Jersey Shore, are coming back to our television screens for a reunion special.
The special series Jersey Shore: Family Vacation follows the seven original housemates on their holiday to Miami, Florida for a month, where they catch up and celebrate their group’s return, and cause structured chaos with the additional baggage of their evolved personal lives.
The crew’s comeback can be viewed as the act of a group of adults who can’t let go of their youthful social life and jumped at the opportunity to return to their former lives.
The cast consists of Nicole ‘Snooki’ Polizzi, Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino, Jennifer ‘JWoww’ Farley, Paul ‘Pauly D’ DelVecchio, Vinny Guadagnino, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro and Deena Nicole Cortese.
Jersey Shore member and full-time DJ Pauly D spoke about how excited he was to return with the original crew to people’s television screens, with the hope of entertaining the audience once more.
“It’s a great feeling to be back with the family and go on vacation together. We’ve grown so much since the finale of our previous series, so I think it would be great for the viewers to see how the original crew have been doing, and what we’ll be up to in Miami,” the DJ explained.
The original Jersey Shore focused on this particular group, who were in their twenties at the time, staying at Seaside Heights in New Jersey. We followed them as they earned money from various social events and parties, and caused serious mayhem in the process.
The international success of Jersey Shore (after its final episode in 2012) resulted in various spin-offs in other locations (think Geordie Shore, Warsaw Shore, Acapulco Shore, Snooki & JWoww and The Pauly D Project).
“Even though we went our separate ways and started doing different things after Jersey Shore ended, we still stayed close and never forgot that we were a family,” Pauly D said.
“And I believe that’s why it was fairly easy for some of us to accept the offer to return and do what we love as a family.”
The first season of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation will also focus on the personal lives of the housemates, with a few episodes featuring the legal issues Sorrentino has to deal with, as well as the families Farley and Polizzi have created with their respective partners.
The TV series has already been renewed for a second season (with only two episodes having already aired), but the crew’s next holiday destination is still unknown to them.
“I hope that our next destination will be fun and amazing, which I’m sure it will, and hopefully even international. It would be awesome to travel to somewhere like Ibiza or Thailand,” said Pauly D.
