DJ Fresh and Nomzamo Mbatha will both be bringing some serious heat to the stage for the upcoming Comedy Central Roast of Somizi, airing on Comedy Central (DStv channel 122) on Monday, May 7, followed with the extended uncensored version to Showmax subscribers from Tuesday, May 8.

With over 30 releases under his belt, Fresh has shared the DJ booth with some of the biggest international names in house music and is unequivocally one of the most beloved breakfast show hosts in the country. This ‘Big Dawg’ will bring a fierce bark to the panel.

“As someone that not only loves Comedy Central Roasts, but actually owns copies of all of them to date, it’s quite surreal to be a panellist for the Comedy Central Roast of Somizi. GAYm ON, Dzoll!!!,” said Fresh.

From small screen beginnings in the soapie Isibiya to BET A-list co-presenter, there is no doubt Nomzamo has become a household name in the past few years. She has presented, hosted and acted in several big local productions, including a riveting drama Umlilo, which means to fire. Nomzamo’s experience in bringing the fire to any performance will stand her in good stead.

“My feeling about being part of the Comedy Central Roast of Somizi is obvious… I hope I can be funny and cheeky without trying too hard because I think throwing shade is a skill and an art. My main worry about Somizi is: how do you even begin to shade someone who’s a master of self-shading and lives his life publicly?,” commented Nomzamo.

Fresh out the oven, Comedy Central is thrilled to welcome Metro FM as a partner to the Comedy Central Roast of Somizi, brought to you by Showmax.

Anthony Soglo, Metro FM Programmes Manager commented, “METRO FM Management sees the benefit and synergy in partnering with Comedy Central, especially since one of our very own personalities, Somizi, will be the star of the show as well as DJ Fresh being part of the roasting panel, made it easy for us to see the potential positive cross promotion on our respective platforms.”

Dillon Khan, Vice President for Comedy Central and Creative Services at Viacom International Media Networks added, “Metro FM is Mzansi’s number 1 radio station and we’re excited to partner with them to roast their DJs, Somizi and DJ Fresh, as well as the other panellists. You can expect shading on steroids.”
