South Africa’s most opinionated puppet now has his own show on eNCA.

Chester Missing, known for his political voice within the entertainment industry, will be heading Almost News with Chester Missing - a talk show with an irrelevant look at the current affairs.

“The whole Almost News with Chester Missing team is very excited to be taking this little guy to another level. eNCA has made cutting-edge political satire possible through the elections,” said Chester’s creator Conrad Koch.

Each episode is 24 minutes long and includes a news analysis upfront by Chester. It includes in-depth views of specific political players, like Jacob Zuma or Bathabile Dlamini, and corporate corruption, such as Steinhoff. It also includes a regular spot by outspoken political analyst Mpheng Morobe, and a political guest.

“This is a news show, with a puppet hosting it. It’s the most accessible, fun, hilarious news show you are ever likely to see. Chester’s comedy is all about nuance and striving for a historically aware irreverence - he ‘punches up’, as we say in the industry. His race is a paint job, so he approaches the news exactly the same way. Chester is me. I know, who would’ve guessed,” said Koch.

Koch says the show is for everyone, whether you’re into politics or not.

Koch said viewers should tune in because “quite frankly this is the best news show around”.

“We have an award-winning celebrity puppet nailing political shenanigans, an incredible set, on SA’s best news channel, with an incredible writing team who are already Emmy nominated from their LNN experience, with the genius of Kagiso Lediga guiding it,” he said.

Catch Almost News with Chester Missing on Sundays at 7:30pm on eNCA.
