It would help if one could find even a single reason why this movie was made. Perhaps it was simply to cash in on Robbie Wessels of Leeuloop fame - but do they?

In what seems to be an attempt to make an Afrikaans American Pie, two matric boys (with a much older than school-going Wessels as the hyperventilating star) suddenly realise they're sex-starved and need to lose their virginity before the matric exams.

A teacher with dresses way too short, decides that she will step in to help - giving no rhyme or reason. It's that kind of movie. Things don't have to be explained, they just happen. Certainly these two boys can't have anything to do with her enthusiasm. There's not even a shred of charm lurking anywhere.

Trying desperately to find a plot, after a while, it was easier to start searching for sentences without swear words. Every character, from the principal to the mother to the policeman, speaks a language that seems totally out of step and character. What all this swearing implies simply passed me by. But again, it's that kind of movie!

Do we really believe that an audience can be swayed by swear words and that in the new millennium, these are still regarded as risqué? Do the filmmakers care? Obviously not.

If the movie was driven by the success of Leeuloop, they failed to cash in. In fact, scratching my head to find a valid reason for making this one, other than a tax break and I don't know if those are still around, this one didn't make sense on any level.

None!

If you liked … American Pie or Straight Outta Benoni … you should enjoy this.
