MTV Base in partnership with Breezer is opening up the industry this year with the talent search continuation as they travel to four major cities in South Africa scouting the next best and biggest local talent to join the youth brand, MTV Base through their popular MTV Base VJ Search.
The youth brand is searching for an ambitious and vibrant candidate who lives life in colour looking to kick start their journey to stardom like Tshego Koke - who’s earned his stripes in the entertainment industry – after winning the 2017 edition of MTV Base VJ Search.
“MTV Base takes pride in empowering and developing talent on the continent through MTV Base VJ Search, this is an opportunity for young talent to showcase what they are capable of doing.
"We are thrilled to be partnering with sponsor Breezer for the second year. 360 Campaigns such as these support the youth by tapping into their creativity and pushing boundaries with their art form from music, television, fashion and comedy. We are looking for a well-rounded, fresh and colourful VJ", says Monde Twala, Vice President for BET, Youth and Music.
Koke is concluding his year at MTV Base by hosting the nationwide MTV Base VJ Search that helped propel emerging talent such as Sizwe Dhlomo, Vanessa Mdee, Sandile Ntshingila, Ehizojie Okoeguale, Nomuzi Mabena, Fikile 'Fix' Moeti.
Over the last 12-months, Koke took the Viacom International Media Networks Africa stage with experiential work across a number of functions with the opportunity to understand and obtain a behind the scenes view of the television networks’ day-to-day activities.
In less than a month he was positioned in front of MTV Base audiences as a co-host of entertainment trends show NewsIsh joining fellow brand VJs Kim Jayde Robinson, Farieda 'Pharoafi' Metsileng and Sandile Ntshingila.
Within three months, he was assigned his own show MTV Base Top 30 where he hosted the leading music charts of each week and also travelled the country through his role to interact with the who’s who of the entertainment industry including US music stars Swizz Beatz and Migos, Nigerian chart topper Niniola and local musicians Nadia Nakai, Kwesta, Babes Wodumo, Nasty C and Distruction Boyz to name a few.
