In terms of pure lyricism, the opening two episodes of Vuzu Hustle S2 have left much to be desired. There’s been choking aplenty and some questionable decisions from the judges.

But what the show’s lacked in this regard it’s more than made up for in drama and controversy. On last week’s first episode, each of the Capetonian contestants got the axe. But it was the elimination of Kno that struck a chord with viewers across the country.

After people voiced their displeasure at his “unfair” elimination, DJ Switch nigh on offered him a reprieve by featuring the young rapper on Now or Never.

Now, after G-Twizz was eliminated last night, Cassper Nyovest jumped on the bandwagon and offered him a feature, too. It’s worth noting that G-Twizz had raped, “Pray for the Sama’s and maybe a feature with Cass(per)” during his performance on the show, much to head judge AKA’s displeasure.

Many on social media thought that it was the mere mention of AKA’s long-running rival during his performance that provoked a particularly harsh response from the Supa Mega.

Despite this it was Manu WorldStar who stole the show when he volunteered himself to battle in the elimination round after choking in the preliminary challenge. It wasn’t the smoothest battle we’ve seen but Manu managed to flip his L into a W by defeating the stuttering Five One MPH.

I spoke to AKA earlier to get his take on Manu’s bold but dangerous stunt: “I thought it was brave. I think you have to be a little cocky for the sake of television and the sake of competition. It’s nice to see somebody who believes in themselves. But at the same time it could have backfired, and it nearly did.”
