Hot Fuzz

Nu Metro Home Entertainment

Rating ****

Film: Director Edgar Wright and actor Simon Pegg watched copious hours of buddy-cop movies before attempting the script for Hot Fuzz, and what they came up with was every bit as funny as Shaun of the Dead.

Pegg is London cop Nicholas Angel, who gets sent to the quiet town of Sandford where he struggles with the serious lack of crime and his over-eager partner, Danny (Nick Frost).

Little does he know, though, that the disasters stunning the town's folks are not accidents.

Every cop movie cliché and trick in the filmmaking handbook is blatantly used to poke fun at the genre, but it turns out to be dryly funny rather than derivative.

Excellent comedic timing from Pegg and Frost - who play it straight - and great use of sets, soundtrack and over-the-top action sequences make for a great send-up.

Features: There's so much bonus material that you don't know where to look first. The outtakes are hilarious, there's audio commentary from Pegg and Wright, trailers, features and an extreme amount of Fuzz Facts which you can turn on as you watch the film. Hours of extra fun.
