The second Season of Sauvignon Blanc, from 15 to 17 September 2006, is set to build on its successful first year when the members of the Durbanville Wine Valley will once again throw open their farms to enthusiasts of the good life.

“We will be expanding the programme and involve more people in this year's event to ensure that we have only the best of the Durbanville Wine Valley to offer our visitors,” said Pieter de Waal, Marketing Manager for the Durbanville Wine Valley Association.

This Season promises to be a feast for the senses with activities ranging from vineyard walks and cellar tours, picnics, arts, crafts, music, special lunches and dinners, bed and breakfast packages to game drives.

Wine lovers will be able to taste Sauvignon Blanc from the entire valley and a special offer wine pack, which includes a bottle from each winery, will be on sale.

Each wine producer on the route, i.e. Altydgedacht, Bloemendal, D'Aria (where the award-winning Poplars Restaurant is situated), De Grendel, Diemersdal, Durbanville Hills, Hillcrest, Meerendal and Nitida will have something special to offer and plans are being finalised for a unique 4 X 4 route winding through all the farms that is guaranteed to keep enthusiasts on the edge of their seats.

Activities officially begin at 12:00 on Saturday, 16 and Sunday, 17 September and will end at 17:00 on both days with a number of events planned for the Friday evening as well.

Tickets cost from R100 to R150 for adults with a discounted rate for children and allows visitors entry to the wine estate of their choice, a delectable meal and a glass of the winery's superb Sauvignon Blanc.

A limited number of “roving tickets” that allows visitors access to more than one estate per day will be introduced for the first time this Season. All visitors will have the opportunity to buy wines at cellar door prices.

Experience the refreshing charm of the Durbanville Wine Valley, only 20 minutes' drive from the Cape Town city centre.

Booking is essential and tickets can be obtained at the wineries or through the Durbanville Wine Valley Association.
