Damita Jo - Janet

(EMI)

Janet Jackson famously made headlines recently for exposing more than her talent on M-TV with co-singer Justin Timberlake, in a staged stunt presumably gone horribly wrong.

With the memory still fresh in the minds of many, this larger-than-life celebrity looks set to steal the spotlight again with her sizzling new release, which, according the singer, is exactly what she is all about.

The 22-track album is a combination of contemporary pop, a bit of soul, and at times, downright dirty talk and seductive lyrics.

With the experience gained from the number of years Jackson has been involved in the music business, it is pleasing to note the singer/actress has not compromised her style of music in favour of more bubblegum-type music.

However, that is not to say that Jackson's album does not have a contemporary edge to attract the house music loving crowd.

Throughout Damita Jo, Jackson maintains a nice pace with laidback sounds pitted against up-tempo and energetic beats, to avoid the release sounding repetitive and boring.

She sounds ever so sexy on tracks like Sexhibition, Strawberry Bounce and My Baby.

The R&B/pop icon takes the tempo down a notch and whisks the listener away to a romantic paradise with Spending Time With You, Island Life and All Nite (Don't Stop).

Music lovers can also chill to the disco sounds of R&B Junkie, boasting catchy dance beats that will leave you shaking your stuff on the dance floor.

With fresh lyrics from a much bolder and more flirtatious Janet Jackson, fans will love Damita Jo.
