Gig of the week - Zack Attack

Wilson’s Wharf, Sunday

WILSON’S Wharf will be ringing with the sound of music on Sunday when some of the best of old and new sounds come together.

This month’s Zack Attack will feature Steve Fataar, Stereo in Flight, The Cheap Bad Habits and Tara, who comes in from Cape Town for the gig.

John Humphries of Zack’s said the point of Zack Attack was to have an event once a month that gave some newbies to the music scene a chance to strut their stuff.

“It’s really Steve Fataar hosting up to eight bands who are up-and- coming acts. Giving them a platform,” he explained.

Zack’s and Fataar have been collaborating on a few similar initiatives that sees Zack’s various venues hosting music most nights of the week.

Another big effort will see the launch of a CD compilation of home-brewed bands.

“We are launching this CD in March. It is a compilation of local bands that auditioned over six months last year to be on the CD.

“The CD is a mix of genres and an idea we came up with also to give these upcomers a chance,” Humphries said.

Enjoy some good music with Zack Attack at 7pm on Sunday. Entrance is free. Call 031 305 1671.
