The Glenlivet JazzTown is set to take centre stage at the Vodacom Durban July today, with a definitive, world class South African jazz experience.

The 5-star hospitality and a glass fronted marquee overlooking the race course, offers the perfect backdrop to enjoy this grand social gathering, held at Greyville Race Course, in style.

With a music line-up headed up by legendary South African songstress Thandiswa Mazwai and Afro-soul hit-maker Ringo Madlingozi, presented in a sophisticated environment, guests are in for a premium lifestyle experience at Africa’s greatest race day.

Multi-award winning former lead singer for Bongo Maffin, Thandiswa Mazwai needs little introduction. The sheer brilliance of this Afro Jazz great epitomizes the gravitas, complexity and originality of the South African Jazz songbook. She kicked off her career as frontline vocalist for formidable kwaito dance act Bongo Maffin and is one of the most influential musicians in Africa today.  She will be dazzling guests at 8pm.

Ringo earned iconic status in the music industry as the mesmerizing frontman for bands like Peto and Gecko Moon – and followed this up with an off-the-charts solo career that saw him scoop numerous SAMA and KORA All Africa music awards. He will be entertaining guests at 6.30pm.

Other artists sharing the stage are chart-topping Vusi Nova who will perform at 5pm; Jazz singer and pianist Nomfundo Xaluva who will perform at 3.15pm; and Standard Bank Young Artist award-winning pianist Bokani Dyer, who will perform at 2pm – with funk vinyl and rare groove king DJ Bob at 2.45pm, and hip hop DJ PH on the decks at 10pm.
