GIG OF THE WEEK

Joburg Day

Riversand Farm (Tomorrow)

After the winter snow, we look forward to spring and that is only one sleep away. Where will you be? While there are a lot of options – from braais with friends to gigs – every Joburger knows the biggest party will be the Joburg Day gig.

The annual event coincides with Spring Day and gives people a chance to enjoy each other’s company in a park and picnic setting. Somewhere in all of that will be a stage where your favourite artists will be rocking you all day long.

This year’s line-up will include the likes of Chiano Sky, Toya Delazy, Lloyd Cele, Good Luck, Mi Casa, The Graeme Watkins Project, Locnville, Pascal ’n’ Pearce, the Kongos, Goldfish and Crazy White Boy. Now you know you don’t get to see that every day.

Many people will be happy to see Good Luck and Locnville for their older material, which made them legends. New kids on the block Mi Casa and Toya Delazy have done well in a short space of time, so fans will also be looking forward to seeing them on stage.

Lloyd’s performances always get the ladies screaming for more. He is a great singer and guitarist, though I am not sure about the Usher dance moves. Either way, he is sure to make some women happy the moment he’s on stage.

Joburg Day will be celebrated at Riversands Farm in Fourways. If 12 or younger you pay R85, otherwise it’s R220 at Computicket. – Munyaradzi Vomo
