Africa's first-ever Comic Con is happening this weekend at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit and International Convention Centre in Johannesburg.

Comic Con Africa will ooze pop culture, from superhero comics to gaming, and fans will get the opportunity to see some of their favourite international stars in person.

The three-day event will showcase comic books and science fiction/fantasy related film, television, and similar popular arts.  The exhibition will also feature a larger range of pop culture and entertainment elements across virtually all genres, including animation, toys, gadgets, clothing, collectable card games, tabletop games, anime, manga, video games, webcomics, and fantasy novels.

Apart from guest appearances from international and local celebrities, the comic extravaganza will see African comic enthusiasts, geeks, gamers and nerds alike come together in their superhero outfits.

Comic Con Africa will also feature a large floor space for exhibitors, as well as the Artists' Alley, where comic artists can sign autographs and sell or do free sketches. There'll also be prizes up for grabs and merchandise on sale.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to watch a screening of South Africa's new thriller "The Tokoloshe".

Two of the three-day event's tickets are already sold out. Con Comic Africa will run from 14 to 16 September. Tickets are available on Computicket
