Project Fame stand-off

Today we take a look at the two most talented people in M-Net's reality show Project Fame. I have repeatedly said that M-Net should just hand over the crown to Daré and Lindiwe and send the rest home.

Lindiwe is in a class of her own, and this also holds true for "Mr Smooth" - Daré.

We decided to take a look at why these two contestants are so natural and mesmerising on stage. Whatever the final result, the Zambian and Nigerian singers have what it takes.

The tale of the tape

- The Mary J Blige lookalike is the only married contestant. She is also the mother of a delightful 4-month-old boy, Sifikile. But, who is this beautiful 25-year-old Zambian really?

Lindiwe Gendolyn Eleanor Alam was born in Ndola to a South African father and Zambian mother.

Lindiwe has all it takes to be a successful musician, and she agrees, because she feels she has discovered herself as an artist.

Lindiwe started singing in Grade 6, encouraged by her music teacher. After completing school she pursued the love of her life - music. She started performing publicly, and later became the lead female vocalist for Jazz Connection.

She is currently working on an album. She has also won awards, including the Ngoma (the Zambian Grammys) award for best female performer in 1999.

Lindiwe describes being at the academy as a dream of a lifetime. In anticipation of the Project Fame competition, she said: "I have raw talent, which isn't enough anymore, and I am ready to grow." Hopefully she now has all she needs to make it in the big time.

- Daré plays the keyboard, drums and percussion. This 23-year-old has been playing for 10 years and works in the classical, jazz, hip-hop and R&B genres.

Daré studied at the Musical Society of Nigeria. But his grooming started at home. He is the son of the late jazz maestro and veteran broadcaster Art Alade and a famous opera singer of the '70s and '80s.

A true entertainer, Daré also works as a DJ, VJ and voice-over artist. Everyone in the house, including the principal and the board of directors, have been overawed by Daré's personality.

It is that kind of confidence - many have called it arrogance - that made him pronounce that he should be Africa's next best thing because "there is no other option".

Many contestants have complained about Daré's attitude. He believes that he is just misunderstood or hated because he is real, talented and confident.

Call him what you like - arrogant, presumptuous, proud, egotistical or pompous - this man has what it takes to be the grand prize winner.
