(The Portfolio Collection)

The third edition of Rossouw's Restaurants, edited by Cape Times wine writer Jean-Pierre Rossouw, features over 400 restaurants (nearly double the number featured in the first edition in 2004), alphabetically listed and anonymously reviewed by restaurant patrons as well as the book's editorial team.

This assembly of concise reviews often tends to be quite blunt, helpfully so, "...basic food, some say 'abysmal'..." - and informative.

Each restaurant is compared to others in its price range - restaurants reviewed include those with an average cost for one person for a two-course meal, plus a beverage and coffee, excluding tip, from under R100 to over R300.

Further information about additional features is included such as views, vegetarian status, family-friendliness etc. These features are listed at the back for cross-referencing. There are also lists of restaurants according to type of cuisine, and the book has maps and a guide to see at a glance which restaurants are in specific areas.
