Takalani Sesame, produced by the SABC Education Department, has been selected as the winner of the Intermedia-globe Gold Medal Award at the World Media Festival 2003 currently taking place in Hamburg, Germany.
The festival is a global competition for modern media, with entries from 24 countries.
Takalani Sesame's special HIV/Aids episode dedicated to World Aids Day won the award for outstanding children's
programming in the children's category.
In the episode the Muppets explore issues around HIV and Aids and how they can make a difference in their everyday lives. Through winning the Gold Award, Takalani Sesame is now in the running for the Grand Prix award, which takes place on the closing night of the festival tomorrow. - Television Reporter
