Durban - A Durban North man was injured during a home invasion after a gang of armed robbers manhandled him on Wednesday afternoon.

Blue Security community and media liaison officer Andreas Mathios said the resident and two companions had locked themselves in the study of their home in Buttery Road when they saw the gang entering the property through the driveway gate.

“The gang forced open the front door and made their way directly to the study and broke down the door. One of the suspects remained with two of the victims in the study while another gang member walked the resident through the house in search of valuables,” Mathios said.

“They demanded to know where the safe was and the resident showed them. The gang ripped the safe off the wall and fled with jewellery, cash, cellphones, laptops, televisions and a digital video recorder. The gang fled in a charcoal grey double cab Ford Ranger,” Mathios said.

“Paramedics attended to the resident whose back had been injured while the suspects pushed and shoved him around the house,” Mathios said.

Greenwood Park SAPS and the Durban North Crisis care volunteers attended the scene.
