Méthod Cap Classique (MCC) is welcome anytime of the year, but it's often in Spring and Summer that we rely on it the most to add that extra sparkle and bubble to parties.

This year is no different and there are some great, proudly South African MCC's that you should try as soon as possible.

Domaine des Dieux

Domaine des Dieux, the boutique wine producer in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley near Hermanus, was crowned as South Africa’s best Cap Classique exponent at this year’s Amorim Cap Classique Challenge, the only competition committed exclusively to the Cap Classique category.

The Domaine des Dieux Claudia Brut MCC 2012, a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, won the category for Best Brut Blend as well as Best Producer having achieved the highest score of all the 127 wines entered into this year’s rendition of the Amorim Cap Classique Challenge.

Pongrácz Blanc de Blancs 

Locally produced MCC, Pongrácz Blanc de Blancs was crowned as the overall champion wine receiving the Vertex Award at the 2018 Veritas Awards.

Blanc de Blancs (meaning “white of whites”) is arguably the most elegant style for Champagne and Méthode Cap Classique. With its beautiful finesse, crisp acidity and racy minerality it’s a joy to sip and very well suited to pairing with food.

 Lively with bright zesty citrus aromas, the Pongrácz Blanc de Blancs is intensely fruity. The refreshing palate reveals an alluring creaminess, fresh lemon zest and toasty yeast, ending with a vibrant mineral-driven finish.

Tokara’s MCC Blanc de Blancs 2011

Cabernet Sauvignon has been the cornerstone of Tokara’s red wines from day one after owners GT and Anne-Marie Ferreira acquired the farm, and their vineyards in the Simonsberg  

Tim Atkin this year awarded Tokara’s ultra-elegant MCC Blanc de Blancs 2011, 94 points and it’s a well deserved accolade and is described as having “aromas that are those of freshly baked brioche, fresh apples and a hint lemon blossom.”
