Curated by Phumzile N Twala, the Black Hair Matters Exhibition held at Eyethu Art Space in Mofolo, Soweto recently saw two artists showcase their natural hairstyle artistries.
Lebohang Motaung and Nikiwe Dlova showcased their latest works of natural hair which seek to explore notions around black hair identity as well as the strands of this complex story.
The exhibitors used art forms such as canvas and digital print, as a catalyst for opening up a dialogue about how black hair is perceived, embraced, experimented with and celebrated.
