Nina Timm’s recipes are easy, affordable and made with dollops of love and in this book, the popular chef, photographer and food blogger presents a wonderful collection of over 100 dishes.
As a working mom, I’ve enjoyed paging through these recipes because they require little effort, can convert even the fussiest of teenagers and guarantee to take your entertaining to the next level.
I’ve tried a few of Nina’s recipes and I’m hooked. Boiled eggs with asparagus, pancetta and Parmesan bread fingers were delicious and made a perfect lazy Sunday breakfast recently.
For the kids, mealie meal fritters; bacon tartlets and Chinese pork rolls with sweet and sour plum sauce.
For my man: Jacob’s ladder beef and Pan Bread Pudding.
My favourite is Nina’s Fire up the Braai chapter.
Gather your friends and try a Pot Braai afternoon using clay plant pots, chicken mesh and briquettes.
I am going into Julia Child mode and will work my way through this book.
Artichoke, potato and cheese tart is next; swanky beef fillet with herb butter when I’m feeling a little more flush, and drunken lamb shanks when my friend arrives for her holiday next month.
