It’s Pick n Pay Knysna Oyster Festival time and as always there are many fun things to do, see and taste.

The festival kicks off today and spans the greater Knysna area, so there's a lot of ground to cover if you want to take in all the sights and sounds.

You can run, cycle, dance and party, but ultimately it's a celebration of oysters and seafood that draws the crowds and this year it's no different.

Oyster schucking

On Friday 6th July from 12 – 1 pm competitors will be battling it out at the Woodmill Lane Shopping Centre in Knysna for the top honours. It's a sight to behold as they grab their special knives and oysters and compete for the fastest times. It's great to watch, but the oysters are as great to taste!

Fish

It's not all about the oysters so spare a thought for other seafood, starting with fish. The Fish Braai competition is where locals battle it out for bragging rights for the coveted title of “Best Fish Braaier in Knysna.” The braai fun takes place on Thursday 5 July from  4 - 6 pm. It's also a great place to pick up tips and advice for your next fish braai, checking out what ingredients the competitors are using, what works and what doesn't for your next fish braai.

Wine

The Knysna Wine Festival presented by Pick n Pay may be an institution, but this year’s location on Thesen Island will be a first. Experience the best of South Africa’s wine farms on Monday 2 and Tuesday 3 July from 5 – 9pm. Wine lovers can choose from over 200 wines from more than 50 wine producers, as well as craft liquors from across the Cape Winelands and Garden Route. Tickets cost R150, available at Webticket.

Fresh Taste of Pick n Pay

The retailer is launching a brand-new event and Pick n Pay Smart Shopper card holders and their partners are invited to reserve a spot at the Fresh Taste of Pick n Pay. Look forward to being served scrumptious delights; and as you'd expect from Knysna hospitality, you'll be invited to indulge in fresh oysters, accompanied by Heinz Hot Sauce. This will be rounded off with the perfect wine or bubbly from Van Loveren wines. It's happening on Wednesday 4 July between 4 and 7pm at the Woodmill Lane Shopping Centre.
