One of South Africa’s most popular drinks, Sprite has launched a new flavour - cucumber.
According to Business Insider, Sprite Lemon-Lime Cucumber was first launched in Russia, where cucumber water and cucumber lemonade was popular, last year.
Senior Brand Manager of Sprite in South Africa, Mukundi Munzhelele, told the news site that they were inspired by their colleagues in Russia and so tested Sprite cucumber with their South African consumers.
“They confirmed our belief that this would be an exciting product to launch in South Africa”, he said.
Truly speaking, from my side I don’t think this new flavour will be the go-to drink for me. I’m not a fan of both lemon or lime and cucumber, now imagine the two infused in one drink, nah!
But judging from social media, tweeps have given it a thumbs up with some marking it as their new favourite soft drink; so this could mean it’s not as bad as I’m imagining it to be.
