Turmeric is one of the superfoods of the moment, and after reading up on it I can see why. There’s a long list of health benefits attached to its nutritional value: it’s an anti-inflammatory, anti-depressant and anti-oxidant, and it’s also thought to help liver function and help against cancer. There are many ways to introduce this vibrant spice to your diet. The most obvious is in Indian cuisine, but why not try this latte – it’s something a little different and very popular in cafe society…
1 x 400ml tin coconut milk
2 tsp ground turmeric (make into a thick paste by mixing with a drop of boiling water)
1 tbsp grated fresh ginger root
1 tbsp raw honey
1 tsp ground cinnamon
Pour the coconut milk into a saucepan and gently warm.
Add the ginger, cinnamon and turmeric paste and whisk.
Allow to warm through, then, using either a hand blender or hand whisk, work up a froth on the surface of the milk.
Pour and serve.
