Cape Town - Love or hate Cape Town food blogger Kamini Pather, she has stood out on Masterchef SA from the start. As the competition nears the end, Pather is still a strong contender.

This week saw her fans defend her on social media, as her detractors felt that she should have been the one eliminated from the contest because she’s had three consecutive bad weeks.

On Wednesday night, Pather, 29, along with Pretoria sisters Leandri, 23, and Seline, 25, van der Wat made it to the top three.

Pather caused a stir when she was saved over 22-year-old Ozzy Osman.

She described the challenge, which involved making chocolate desserts using the molecular gastronomy technique, as her Mount Everest. Pather had run out of time, and didn’t plate everything she made.

Judge Pete Goffe-Wood said the elements that Pather did present were pretty good and in the end she was allowed to progress to the next round.

Kamini, author of Deelishuss food blog, is a radio DJ on 2OceansVibe and a yoga instructor. She credits her photography experience for her plating beautiful dishes. - Cape Argus
