Kloof Street in Cape Town is buzzing day and night, ans this chic new eatery is a calm between that storm.

The new Kloof Street restaurant Janse & Co is won't be on the "Best Kept Secrets" list for too long as Cape Town’s food loversare always on the lookout for a casual fine dining experience that combines beautiful surroundings, an innovative ingredient-led menu, and excellent service.

Arno Janse van Rensburg established Janse & Co in December last year — after six years at The Kitchen at Maison in Franschhoek.

Janse & Co has a differentiated lunch offering to cater for the many people working in the area who are keen to have a quick lunch but don’t want to compromise on the experience.

The restaurant space is well-suited for lunch meetings with a range of areas that offer varying degrees of privacy.

The lunch menu has a selection of eight dishes, with the options of two courses (R245), 3 courses, (R345) or 4 courses (R445).

The larger dinner menu comprises 20 items, from which a minimum of three courses (R 385) and up to seven courses (R 785) can be enjoyed. The Janse & Co wine list has been curated with care and includes a selection from boutique wineries in the Western Cape.

Janse van Rensburg says: “While our aim is to provide an exceptional dining experience, our restaurant is not reserved for special occasions. We already have regular customers both for dinner and lunch, who return not only for their favourite dish or to try more items on the menu, but for the relaxed atmosphere, the considered interior and good service. We work hard to ensure that all of these elements deliver excellence.”

Every dish uses 3-4 key seasonal ingredients with an abundance of fruits, vegetables and herbs, giving the meal a certain lightness.

Multiple cooking techniques are used, combining the new and the traditional, with a simplistic and layered plating approach to match the flavour balance of sweet, sour, salty and bitter.
