Imagine Sunday lunch where you can enjoy a delectable meal, listening to the sound of waves crashing, while enjoying picture perfect views of the city.

You don’t have to imagine: the Radisson Blu Hotel in the Waterfront offers a relaxed seaside dining experience while basking in the autumn sun.

The Sunday lunch buffet at Tobago’s Restaurant, located on the ground floor inside the hotel, changes weekly, so guests can expect a different meal experience every time.

The buffet offers a range of seafood, meat, salads and side dishes that caters for every palate.

On a sunny day you can take a seat on the terrace and enjoy uninterrupted views of the ocean and the V&A Waterfront. If you’re lucky, you may even catch a wedding party passing through.

The venue offers a relaxed atmosphere and the space is ideal for any type of gathering.

It was a sunny day when my colleague and I went for lunch, and from the moment we walked in the friendly staff made us feel more than welcome.

The sous chef on duty also came by for a chat when he had a minute between creating dishes.

We chose to order from the a la carte menu.

We started with a salad, my colleague had the deconstructed Caesar salad, which comes with chicken terrine, cheese, cheese croute, anchovy and avo mousse, cos wedges, boiled egg, anchovy fillets, parmesan and Caesar dressing.

I had the cobb salad, on the waitresses’ recommendation, which comes with chicken, tomato, marinated sweet corn, coppa ham, avocado, egg, creamy tomato dressing.

We were not prepared for the big portions, considering that these were only starters.

The salads were great, but there was no way I could finish it all if I wanted to enjoy my main and fit in a dessert.

For mains I had the linefish with sautéed bacon, green beans, olives, red onion and herbed new potatoes, cherry tomatoes, vinaigrette.

Sticking with seafood, my colleague had the asparagus linguini prawns - calamari strips, mussels, dill cream sauce, semi-dried tomatoes, parmesan shavings and pea shoots.

Both dishes were good, but the linguini dish was the winner. Going into autumn, this would be the perfect dish to enjoy on a chilly day.

While enjoying lunch with a view, guests are entertained with live music.

Lunch is served between 12 noon and 3pm, while the buffet is open from 12:30 - 3:30pm.

The buffet costs R395 per person, children under the age of 5 eat for free. Children between the ages 5 -12 pay half price.
