CAPE TOWN - The beginning of the pandemic and all safety measures that came with it has lead to the abrupt closing of schools and universities prior to the official lockdown.
While schools continue online classes, university students are left most uncertain. As all school buildings remain closed during level 4, the Department of Basic Education is set to announce proposed opening dates on Tuesday.
In the meanwhile here is 6 South African universities that offer virtual tours of their campuses ;
University of Cape Town (UCT)
The tour offers an illustrated birds-eye view helping you navigate all campuses with multiple faculty and buildings. The map does require Adobe Flash Players. To view, click here
University of Pretoria (UP)
Offers an entire web page dedication to the multiple faculty buildings and facilities displaying a panoramic 360 photograph that can be navigated freely with accompanying videos. To view, click here
University of the Witwatersrand (WITS)
The virtual tour offers free movement across all campuses and faculties by navigating use the white marker at the bottom of the page. To view, click here
Nelson Mandela University (NMU)
This virtual tour offers a 360 view off all campuses which can be navigated by clicking and dragging. To view, click here
Stellenbosch University (SU)
This virtual tour does require you to download the SU Facilities app on Google Play or App store. The app provides more than just a virtual tour but provides students with information on transport and classes along with tours of various faculties and buildings.
