CAPE TOWN- South Africa has recorded 82 more Covid-19 related deaths, bringing the total to 1 080, while the cumulative number of confirmed cases is 50 879, an increase of 2 594.
Of the latest deaths, Health minister Zweli Mkhize said that 55 are from the Western Cape, 26 from the Eastern Cape and 1 from KwaZulu-Natal.
Mkhize said that while South African records Covid-19 deaths daily, the country's mortality rate remains at 2.1 per cent which is below the global average of 6 percent.
The recoveries to date stand at 26 099, translating to a recovery rate of 51.3 percent.
