CAPE TOWN - The English Premier League and all remaining La Liga games will be featuring audio provided by EA Sports video game, FIFA, to simulate stadium atmosphere.
The global outbreak of Covid-19 has seen many sports events canceled or postponed, with only a selected few resuming.
The top football leagues in Europe are set to resume, with some already continuing such as German Bundesliga and most recently, La Liga (Spanish Football League), while following necessary health and safety protocols, the English Premier follows suit this Wednesday.
The most noticeable restriction was that fans are not allowed to attend the games to prevent the spread of the virus, but keeping stadiums empty meant that streamed football games lacked the atmosphere and clearly impacts the excitement of the match through the eyes of a spectator.
EA Sports FIFA, one of the most popular sports video games, has found a temporary solution by providing La Liga with what they call ‘Atmospheric Audio’ which is a simulation of stadium audio consisting of crowd reactions, cheers and chants.

The English Premier League resumes on Wednesday, 17 June, and will be featuring the same artificial sound system provided by EA Sports which even equips the unique sound and audio from each team and unique chants.
From the top European football leagues, this may be the closest to an ordinary match day experience spectators may see in a while as the virtual atmospheric audio may see the remainder of the season through.
