“Operation Smile South Africa (OSSA) is dedicated to helping children and adults born with cleft lips and/ cleft palates gain access to safe and secure surgery.

In celebration of Operation Smile International’s 35 anniversary and the Until We Heal campaign the #35SmilesIn35Days was launched on World Smile Day (6 October).

The campaign — known as#35SmilesIn35Days — is a crowdfunding campaign where people will be encouraged to donate as much or as little as they can in order to contribute to the equivalent cost of one smile (R5 500) a day for 35 days.

The campaign features a number of ambassadors including adventurers Chris Bertish, Braam Malherbe, David Grier. Radio personalities Liezel van der Westhuizen, Irma G, Catherine Grenfell and Sibongile Mafu and comedian Mumz .

The Until We Heal campaign is concerned with the fact that billions of people around the globe are still without access to safe surgery and so Operation Smile is dedicated to creating not only awareness of the fact but encouraging citizens, health practitioners and governments to sign the pledge committing to working towards a planet where all people have access to surgery.
