The Western Cape Department of Health introduced the emotional wellbeing pulse check survey at the Brooklyn Chest Hospital to help healthcare workers cope with the stress during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Healthcare workers remain in the frontline in the fight against the coronavirus which could lead to anxiety due to the amount of pressure, the number of patients and fear for their own lives.

“Although the numbers are coming down, we are not really getting the breather that everyone hoped we would get,” said Dr Jessica Taylor from the Brooklyn Chest Hospital.
“We did the survey here and we felt like our concerns were taken seriously. It also allowed us an opportunity to self reflect on what you were feeling,” she said.
Oupa Motshweneng, Quality Assurance Manager at the hospital added that the main aim of the survey was to measure the emotional wellbeing of the staff and the levels of stress they were under.
