South African actress and activist Nomzamo Mbatha can now add another accolade to her long list of accomplishments - a rose named after her.

Just hours after the announcement was made, she took to Twitter to share a video of herself and the rose that was named in her honour.

"Never in a million years did I ever think I would have a rose named after me or join this caliber of laureates... Yesterday was truly special. Thank you Ludwig Roses for this profound recognition," she later tweeted.

Mbatha joins a long list of famous people who have had roses named after them, including Elizabeth Taylor, Diana, Princess of Wales and our very own Nelson Mandela.

According to ZAlebs, online sales of the rose are blooming.

Mbatha added that 50 percent of the proceeds of sales will go to the Lighthouse Foundation - an organisation that seeks to help young people who battle mental illness, depression, anxiety and suicidal thoughts.
