Summer holidays are made of sunshine, lazy days and fun with your friends. What better way to create summer memories than a road trip with your besties. Especially in our beautiful country with so many destinations just a stone through away.
Cotton On recently picked four young South African influencers, based on their style, and love for the brand, to take a road trip in an old school red VW Kombi along scenic West Coast road to spend a day at the picturesque West Coast National Park at Kraalbaai beach.
Ashleigh Herman, Lerato Kgamanyane, Gemaen Taylor and Andre Kanyinda started their fun-filled trip at a home in Woodstock, making a stop at the Puma petrol station along the way to the Kraalbaai beach. They ended their day with ice-creams at Blouberg beach front.
We ask the daytrippers to answer a questions about their road trip and summer holidays.
What was the highlight of the day trip?
Andre Kanyinda (AK): The highlight for me was driving to all the locations, the conversations we had and the all-round good vibes.
Lerato Kgamanyane (LK): Definitely getting to Kraalbaai, chilling on my Cotton On floatie and hanging out with friends on the beach.
Ashleigh Herman (AH): My highlight of the Cotton On road trip was arriving at the beach. The towels, the floaties, the people and view just added to the amazing experience.
Gemaen Taylor (GT): My highlight was driving in the old school Cotton On van to enjoy the day at the beach and the amazing view.
What's your top summer trend this year?
AK: A good pair of shorts, flip flops, a cool pair of specs and a nice summer shirt.
LK: Floral. Everything floral!
AH: Platform sandals and frilly tops are a win this season.
GT: My top summer trend this year is printed shirts.
What trends can stay and what should go and never come back?
LK: Denim will always be timeless and should stay around forever. I’ve been seeing a lot of kitten heels popping up, can they please leave?
AH: Denim boyfriend shorts need to stay and “booty shorts” need to leave the building, immediately.
GT: The trends that should stay are tank tops and what should never come back are speedos.
Describe your idea of a perfect summer's day.
AK: A perfect summers day is time on the beach with your friends, having a good time, good music and food. Let’s not forget beverages too, I mean it’s hot?!
LK: Even though I live in Johannesburg, my perfect day would be on the beach. Sun out, drinks, music and great friends!
GT: Sunshine, friends, music, drinks on a yacht.
