Oils can be used for cleansing, hydrating dry skins, preventing ageing, healing acne and de-sensitising hypo-allergenic skins.

I was first introduced to using facial oils in my twenties and have been using them ever since.

The practice is based on the principle that “like attracts like”, it makes perfect sense and after cleansing with oil your skin will never feel stripped, dry or tight.

Cleansing with plant-based oils such as coconut, olive, jojoba and almond help to remove dirt and make-up, nurture the skin and balance the production of your skin’s own oil.

Due to its ability to remove bacteria and regulate oil production without clogging pores, oil cleansing is great for treating acne, psoriasis and rosacea, especially jojoba oil.

Plant oils are rich in antioxidants which help to neutralise damaging free radicals that cause premature ageing. With their rich fatty acid content, plant-based oils help to hydrate and plump the skin.

Always apply cleansing oil to damp skin. Use warm water and a clean face cloth to gently wipe away the oil.

Applying a small amount of oil over your face prior to applying moisturiser increases absorption of the moisturiser.
