Witchery’s December First Edition collection will conjure up images of sultry evenings; think island escape in the height of summer. With inspiration that comes directly from the runway, the trends reflected in this collection epitomize luxurious summer dressing.

The colourful, sparse botanical print was designed exclusively in-house and has been digitally printed onto high-end imported fabrics. As the design is so heavily focused on the floral print motif, the remaining collection consists of plain black, white and highlight shades of raspberry.

Structured pieces are contrasted against fringe edged garments and fluid silk silhouettes.

The juxtaposition of tailored and draped pieces are a focal point, with a tuxedo jacket and structured silk pants creating distinction against a handkerchief top and fluid asymmetric hem dress. Fringing reflects seasonal runway trends and appears across evening appropriate tops and skirts.

Witchery's head designer, Gavin Gage, chat to us about the collection.

What is considered First Edition and what is the concept behind a First Edition collection?

First Edition boasts premium fabrications, limited quantities and pre-styled outfitting. Each season the First Edition collection evolves whilst always remaining driven by the best directional trends from the international show season.

Tell us more on the thought process behind the First Edition Collection?

The initial inspiration behind the collection was our vision to constantly be ahead of the curve. To curate must-have trends and design a collection that encapsulated our own view of future fashion made available to our customer faster than ever before.

It’s our lightning-quick response to the international trends and the collections exclusivity that makes First Edition instantly converted into buy-now, wear-now pieces.

How are collections and key pieces chosen?

Research and analysis of the international shows is key. It’s then all about reviewing colours, fabrics and styling before we enter the final stage of design. We then finally source the most premium fabrics and trims to bring the collection to life.

What is the core focus of this collection?

December First Edition presents a modern approach to elevated day and evening wear for high summer dressing.

With inspiration that comes directly from the runway, the trends reflected in this collection epitomize luxurious and directional outfitting. For the first time print has become a focus of our First Edition collection.

The colourful, sparse botanical print seen throughout was designed exclusively inhouse and has been digitally printed onto high-end imported fabric. Along with print, outfitting and soft structured pieces contrasted with fringing are also a core focus of the collection.

What international trends inspired the collection?

Bold colour and unique print design seen on the runways inspired the hero pieces in the collection.
