First, we would like to congratulate all the winners of the South African Hip Hop Awards which were held last night at Lyric Theatre, Gold Reef City Johannesburg. Keep on doing the good work and raise the South African Hip Hop flag high.

Although South African Hip Hop Awards are not like your usual awards where you have to wear the most glamourous garments for red carpet, these awards are all about street style and culture.

There is a bit of disappointment because one would expect attendees to show off their freestyle/street culture fashion sense, but it seems like many didn’t get the memo.

As much LaSizwe tries to be funny, rocking up at the awards wearing a towel didn’t seem to be funny at all. It just makes us yawn at the lack of creativity he has, since Rita Ora already rocked the "just showered" look at the MTV EMAs last month.

Someone should’ve told Mpho Maboi to at least wear jeans, sneakers and a white t-shirt instead of the two-piece she was wearing. For someone who was presenting an award to dress like that? Eish. total disappointment.

However, all was not lost, as others came to conquer. Lyricist of the Year winner YoungstCpt wore an all while Islamic outfit that was totally dope and on point for Cape culture.
Nadia Nakai looked gorgeous in all black, wearing short dress with a fringe sleev and black fur high heeled sandals. The fringe hairstyle was the perfect finish for her outfit.

And finally, the man of the night, Cassper Nyovest who scooped six awards wore black skinny jeans, black tee and white sneakers. Topping the outfit was his gold chains dangling over his neck. Well done, Mufasa!
