New York - With parents said to be worth £120-million, little North West was never going to be dressed in your everyday parka.
But the two-year-old daughter of rapper Kanye West and reality star Kim Kardashian has become the subject of controversy after being spotted in what appeared to be a real fur coat worth an estimated £2 400 (about R53 000).
The light-coloured jacket was at odds with the rest of her outfit, with the youngster also wearing a more age-appropriate pair of blue jeans, a brown hoodie and a pink cap on a trip to a playground in Los Angeles on Tuesday.
Fans questioned her parents’ taste after Kardashian, 35, posted a picture of North in the coat on Instagram with the caption “Swag”. One wrote: “Her clothes probably cost more than my house”.
Others thought it was inappropriate to dress such a young child in fur. One fan wrote: “That fur looked awesome on an animal, not on a human”.
West, 38, and Kardashian have both been criticised by animal rights campaigners for wearing fur. However West, who has his own fashion line, dismissed critics – saying that wearing fur makes him feel like “a ******* rock star”. Spokespeople for the couple were unavailable for comment.
