Pre-distressed (or scuffed) sneakers are officially one of the latest fashion trends to come out of Europe, and have made recent high-fashion appearances on the runway and with fashion influencers across the globe.
The scuffed look originated in Italy a decade ago, and has since been a firm fashion favourite among many international personalities.
Scuffed shoes also embody the Japanese concept of kintsukuroi, the understanding of an object being all the more beautiful for having suffered damage, and for the history told in every scuff and scrape.
The look consists of dirty and scuffed soles, as well as dirty shoelaces.
