Gasa has been selected as one of the judges for South Africa's version of Project Runway, working alongside designer Gert-Johan Coetzee (who serves as a mentor), and fashion designer virtuoso Rahim Rawjee.
Noni Gasa is a PR virtuoso with a magnificent sense of style, was a features editor 13 years ago for many fashion magazines and was also the face of South African Fashion Week.
Gasa also has a wealth of TV experience, having co-hosted a number of television shows like Big Brother Africa, Media Matters, The M-Net Movies Show, and starring as a judge on Mzansi Magic’s reality model search, Diamond In The Ruff.
After completing her Paris studies Noni Gasa returned to SA and took on a PR position at Woolworths Holdings.
She has given lectures at the London International School of Fashion and also has her own agency, FashionFwd, which includes the names of Ogilvy and Unilever among its' clients.
When asked about what Gasa is looking for with the contestants of Project Runway South Africa, she said that she is looking for "Originality, wear ability, commercial appeal and uncompromising quality".
Gasa also added that, "Technical skill is important, of course, and so is having a sense of identity – knowing what you stand for and having a point of view. The most successful brands are firmly positioned in their purpose and craft a signature aesthetic that’s instantly recognised by the customer".
