You’re finally going on that vacation you’ve been dreaming of all year and the last thing you want is to be weighed down by tons of luggage.

If it’s an island holiday in the Maldives all you’ll need are a few bikinis and shorts, but if it’s a ski trip to the Swiss Alps or a white Christmas in New York, travelling light might be a bit of a challenge.

When it comes to weighing your luggage men often side eye their ladies knowing that their makeup bags take up a substantial amount of space in their suitcases.

So why not leave all that makeup behind? Now I’m sure at this point there are women out there screaming, “I could never live without my makeup”.

Here are a few tips on how to go makeup free and embrace your natural beauty:

Glowing healthy skin is the key to feeling confident to go makeup free - which means you’ll need to maintain a good skin care routine even while you’re on holiday.

- There are a few products you simply cannot leave home without: a good face wash or cleanser.

- Don’t skip moisturiser. Moisturisers help prevent, as well as, treat dry skin. It improves skin tone and texture of your skin.

- The moisturiser helps your skin on the surface but drinking more water helps your skin from the inside by keeping it hydrated.

- Dehydrated skin looks dry, tight and flaky. Dry skin is more prone to ageing and wrinkling.

Never leave home without sunscreen!

Some women say that they can’t leave home without mascara, but sunscreen is far more essential. Yes, even if it appears overcast or you’re playing in the snow.  Sunscreen prevents skin from sun damage which causes premature signs of ageing.

In the same way that water helps your skin from the inside, so does a healthy diet. It’s easy to fall into the trap of living on junk food while you’re too busy having fun but your skin will pay the price. So put down that pizza to avoid unsightly pimples.

Define your eyebrows.

Keep your eyebrows in good shape. Whether you pluck, wax or thread them, keep your brows well defined and shaped. Best to have them done before you leave for your trip.

Ladies love spending hours in a hair salon but when you’re on holiday you won’t have any time for that (you’ll be having too much fun of course). When on holiday keep your hair clean, in its natural state and wear your hair in quick and easy styles.

A smile brightens up your face. So be sure to keep your pearly whites strong and healthy with regular dental checkups and good dental hygiene.
