Despite the fascination with the fashion choices of Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, it is her sister-in-law who has been setting the nation’s online style trends.

Kate’s maternity wardrobe while she was expecting Prince Louis has inspired many young mothers, according to data on our internet search behaviour.

The designs she chose for Prince George and Princess Charlotte have also been influential. ‘As Kate’s third pregnancy was announced, mums-to-be sought to replicate her maternity look of tailored coats, leading to searches for maternity coats more than tripling in November 2017,’ eBay reported.

In April, searches for Jenny Packham – the Duchess of Cambridge’s favourite designer – more than doubled after the royal appeared with the newly born Prince Louis in a red smock dress by the designer. However, Meghan came a close second to Kate, with her influence peaking at her wedding in May.

The haute couture Givenchy dress she wore to marry Prince Harry caused more than a 60 per cent rise in searches for the designer. Princess Charlotte’s flower crown worn at the ceremony prompted a similar-sized rise in activity.
