One of the major highlights from this week’s men’s London fashion week so far comes from menswear designer Xander Zhou’s spring/summer ’19 collection - held at Queen Elizabeth Hall - where the designer had his models donning prosthetic pregnancy bellies as they made their way onto the runway.

The trend first appeared in last year’s fall campaigns by designers Eckhaus Latta, Glossier and Opening Ceremony, with male models wearing prosthetic pregnancy bellies.
Most of the models from the show wore tight shirts or vests to show the prosthetic belly, with one of the models cradling the prothetic belly, and another wearing a t-shirt written ‘New World Baby’ – making reference to the childbearing theme of Zhou’s show.

Zhou’s use of prosthetic bellies was part of his overall theme on the futuristic vision of humanity. Other features from Zhou’s show were the use of odd-coloured contact lenses and one model walked the runway wearing a jacket that had six arms.
