It's now been confirmed that Alfa Romeo will be taking a dive into the SUV market within the next two to three years.

Alfa Romeo's Damien Dally confirmed this in an interview with The Telegraph recently, where the UK brand head mentioned the “whole portfolio of technologies” now available to Fiat through its ownership of Jeep.

The vehicle will be based on the C-segment platform that underpins the Jeep Cherokee, Alfa Romeo Giulietta and Dodge Dart.

However, it is expected to be most closely related to the Cherokee and it should inherit the Jeep's Active Drive all-wheel drive systems and Selec-Terrain multi-mode traction control - albeit with Italian names.

The Alfa SUV's engines, however, would naturally come from the Giulietta in the form of the 125kW/250Nm 1.4 TBi and 173kW/340Nm 1750cc TBi.

But do you think the sporty Alfa Romeo logo really belongs on an SUV or are they simply diluting the brand too much?
